Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my evaluation last?

The length of evaluations can vary depending on the type of evaluation, as well as the complexity of a person’s emotional, behavioral, or cognitive concerns. In-person portions of evaluations can range from 3 to 7 hours in length. Many evaluations are split into multiple appointments due to the lengthy time duration of some parts of testing. Please communicate with your examiner about the expectations with your specific evaluation.

When will I receive the results of my evaluation?

Typically, you will receive your results within two weeks after the completion of all testing administration. However, delays in providing the final results can happen due to various factors, such as a need for more information and consultation with other professionals. Your examiner will make every effort to keep you up-to-date on the status of the results, especially if the two-week timeline has been reached.

How can I benefit from an evaluation?

Psychological evaluations provide an explanation behind how a person’s emotions and behaviors are influenced by their mind and life circumstances. These factors may interfere with one’s daily life, and evaluations offer future solutions to improve everyday functioning. An evaluation not only provides answers to questions regarding the emotional, cognitive, and mental health struggles, but evaluations also help to offer solutions through recommendations for future success. Evaluations can offer guidance for clients in order to work more effectively in the classroom, work settings, and relationships.

What are my options to pay for services?

In general, there is one primary way to pay for services at PPA being cash payment. There are many ways this can be achieved, especially through payment plans or health savings accounts and the like. We also offer superbills to individuals that would like to attempt to gain reimbursement from their insurance company. Please talk with our team to discuss options for timely payment.

Why doesn’t PPA take more health insurance?

This is a great question. We have taken health insurance for many years. There are drawbacks with taking insurance with our practice, such as a limitation of the testing services able to be provided and the time able to be committed to clients and their questions. Not having these limitations, on the other hand, provide PPA with the freedom and opportunity to help our clients in a manner befitting of the standard of practice we expect.

When are people expected to pay for services?

Clients of PPA are expected to pay for services before the actual appointment. This applies to all services of evaluation, therapy, and consultation. Please talk to us about payment plans and our process of invoicing, especially with the expectations of when payment is required.
